The Graham Layton Trust hosted a truly memorable evening of spectacular entertainment, exquisite food and exciting fundraising at The Savoy on 13th October 2018. Guests were welcomed into the River Room overlooking the Thames for a Drinks Reception where they could mingle with celebrity supporters. In the hotel's iconic Lancaster Ballroom, guests enjoyed a three course meal, which was prepared by The Savoy's top chefs, offering the finest culinary experience. The evening was hosted by the ebullient actor, Ameet Chana, and Consultant Ophthalmologist, Ms Rahila Zakir challenged guests to experience visual impairment through the use of vision simulation glasses. There was the opportunity to bid for unique and sought after items in the evening's auction, conducted by Lord Jeffrey Archer. Entertainment is provided by the hugely talented comedian, author and broadcaster Simon Evans. Through live video link, trustee Nusrat Mirza spoke to Fatima about her corneal transplant surgery and the impact it had on her life. This special moment in the evening gave guests a chance to meet one of our patients and see for themselves, how they help change lives. The evening raised over £100,000 and we thank our many friends and supporters for their great generosity.
