Basak Kotler completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in one day. The route is 24 miles long and the cumulative elevation is 5,200 feet, so it’s like climbing about 500 floors of a building!
The weather wasn’t kind with rain and wind for the first six hours, making the ground muddy and the rocks slippery for most of the way. Sheer willpower, the camaraderie of her walking companions and the promise she had made to all the people who had supported her chosen charity, the Graham Layton Trust ensured that Basak powered through and raised £2,400. It will provide 100 cataract surgeries.
