Phase 3: Permanent Eye Care

The limited eye care facilities that were previously available in the disaster-stricken areas were completely destroyed by the earthquake. There is an urgent need for permanent facilities in the disaster zone. LRBT has already started planning the construction of a permanent hospital either in Mansehra (NWFP) or Rawalakot (Azad Kashmir). A permanent facility will, however, cost Rs. 50 million  (£500,000) to build and equip, with running costs estimated at Rs. 7.8 million (£78,000) per year, for which funding is also needed.
