Phase 1: Helping the Injured

LRBT established mobile clinics in Azad Kashmir and the Mansehra region of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP). These provided emergency eye care and other medical and minor surgical treatment. Five teams, consisting of seven doctors with paramedics, were deployed – three in Azad Kashmir and two in the Mansehra region of NWFP.

While one team worked in Mansehra itself, the others went to remote areas where medical facilities were not available. Although some patients had eye-related injuries and problems, most required more general treatment or surgery.

The five teams treated close to three thousand patients. This phase ended before Eid-ul-Fitr (November 14).
